Today, after 110 years of archaeological excavations of the lost imperial city at the foot of Radan Mountain, whose existence was first revealed by famous Serbian travel writers Mita Rakić and Milan Đ. Milićević, we can proudly state that Serbia, as well as the entire world, now recognises a fairly well-ordered and extensively researched archaeological site, giving the impression of a resurrected city. The findings so far, along with many historical sources from both Serbian and international scholarly communities, lead us to conclude that this being the city Justiniana Prima (Ivstiniana Prima) of Justinian I (527-565), founded by the Byzantine emperor near his birthplace.
